#HootTip: How to Add Google+ Pages to HootSuite
When you use various social networks, individually signing in to multiple sites is time consuming. HootSuite streamlines this effort, by creating one dashboard that houses all of your social networks. The HootSuite dashboard is designed to make adding social networks simple. To help get you acquainted with the dashboard’s functionality, we have a new #HootTip all about this HootSuite feature.
Adding Google+ Pages in HootSuite
The HootSuite dashboard makes it easy and convenient to build your online presence. With the addition of Google+, it’s even easier to manage and consolidate all of your social media activities.
Fun fact: Since extending Google+ Pages to all HootSuite users, we’ve had over 5000 Google+ Pages added!
Here’s how:
Step 1: Go to your Launch Bar and click on User Profile.
Step 2: Select Add a Social Network under My Social Networks.
Step 3: You will then be prompted by an “Add Social Network” pop up box. From here choose the Social Network you will like to add to HootSuite (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc). Press Connect.
Step 4: You will then be prompted to sign into your Google account. Once you have typed in your email and password click Sign in. A pop up will appear requesting access to your Google + pages. Click Allow Access.
Step 5: Once you have granted HootSuite permission to access your Google + pages, click on the Google+ page you would like to add and then click Finished Importing.

I keep getting an error 405
Why pages only? Most of the users need to have their personal profiles on the dashboard.
I agree with V. Merkulov, why only pages? I never used the pages feature but made a test page to see how it integrates. It works fine but I am not going to use it. I want to be able to integrate my personal google+ profile to my Hootsuite dashboard.
Is this just the first step with google and hootsuite integration before google will allow personal profiles to be integrated or am I missing something?

Adding my upvote for this. I really like you scheduled posts tool and it would be great to have that for G+

I agree our profiles are needed for these accounts, not just the pages. I purchased Hootsuite because it offered Google+. I am considering closing my account. FB and Twitter are not enough to make it a worthwhile purchase.
I used Hootsuite for some hours – but when I was not able to use my G+-profile, but only the G+-page I made for my wife, I really got to kick Hootsuite out and off.
What a nonsense – first, second and third I want to use my G+-profile – and then some time after the G+-pages. To me it’s not understandable that the pages work, but the profile not !!??
So may I please ask you to give this issue a high priority and urgence ?

Hootsuite is useless without this feature. I just signed up for Hootsuite and found out that I can’t post to my G+ profile. Disappointing after I read so many recommendations about Hootsuite ..

Sorry to hear you feel that way. Currently, no other social media dashboards provide this feature. Until Google+ opens up access, we’re all in the same boat. I promise you though, there’re a ton of useful things you can do with HootSuite. Give it a try and let us know what you think.

I am very excited about this feature but it is not recognizing my G+ account.
I have tried from chrome and firefox, everytime I get a warning message after I enter my data that you do not have a G+ account, but you can make one.
Anyone else having this problem who already has an active account?

Same as me, when I going to import my Google+ account, hootsuite pop up “Oops! It appears that you do not have any Google+ Pages to add at this time.” Obviously I had one.
Using Chrome browser through ssh tunnel, because I’m in mainland China.
I have been waiting for this feature, however it does not seem to be working. Hootsuite and not recognizing my G+ account. It is telling me that I don’t have an account, but that I can make one. Not sure why this is happening?

I’ve been waiting for Google+ functionality for what seems like forever and am glad to see HootSuite taking this on. But omitting personal profiles only give me half of what I need. Please fix.

Andy, thanks for watching this feed, just wanted to say as a social media manager I’m on board with everyone else who is kind of shocked HootSuite still can’t do Google+ profiles. As a reporter, I wonder if there’s a story here? Would you care to elaborate on the details about why this is the case, off or on the the record?

Wonderful! I’ve added it to my other networks but when I look at it on my blackberry, I don’t see it. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app but I still don’t see my google+ icon. What do I need to do?

Google+ Pages are currently not supported on our mobile apps. It’s certainly in the plans though.

I have been trying to add a Google+ page, but do not get the Hootsuite is requesting permission pop up after submitting the google sign in info. It opens up my browser to a Google sign in page. Then when I sign it opens up the Account Overview page and nothing else happens.

If you are still having trouble adding your Pages, try adding through a different browser, as you may be automatically logged into a different account through your Chrome browser. Let us know if that works for you. -JB
And I thought it was just me. I agree with everyone that not being able to use your personal G+ page kinda defeats the purpose.

The timeline for personal pages isn’t up to us. Once we have API access, you can be sure we’ll be working on it.
I agree with everybody, we should be able to connect our profile to the Hootsuite.

As Google+ users, we echo that sentiment. However, we don’t have API access to develop for personal profiles. You can be sure it’s on our to-do list when we do have access.
Do we know when this access might be in the cards? i see you are getting a lot of frustrated people asking/telling you that you should fix it so i would just like to ask if you have any idea when work might start…?

Currently, that isn’t possible. Personal pages is one of our most requested features but until Google+ provides us with access we can’t make any progress with this.
I have been trying to add a Google+ account to my feed, but Hootsuite is saying I have to create a page. What’s the next step?

I followed the steps, but my page was not detected even after providing me with my login. I do have a Google + page, but it is still not being detected. What should I do from here? I checked my Google + profile and it stated that I am allowing Hootsuite access so I know that is not the issue.

I really think there should be a Google+ profile feature. I don’t have my Google+ Page, and every time I want to post something on my G+ profile, I have to do it “the harder” way. By HootSuite, or Hootlet would be much easier. Do you know when will this feature be available?

I can’t add my google plus page. it tells me to sign in to allow access, then when I click OK, it says it looks like I don’t have an account, but it’s pulling up the right account, it has my icon on it! How do I fix?

Any update on when Hootsuite for Ipad app will show Google+ account? I’ve added it on my PC, but it doesn’t show on the app. Does work on the Ipad in the Safari browser though.

Just to be 100% clear does this mean at the moment I cannot acess Google + page to Hootsuite.
In which case I am gutted as I have added all other SNs and now one is on the outside of Hootsuite…which defeats the point. Any updates on timeline?

For clarity’s sake, are you trying to add a Google+ Page or your Google+ (personal) Profile? If it’s a profile, that is not currently supported. But a Page is, so if you are having trouble, Contact our Help Desk for assistance: http://hootsuite.com/help -I hope this is helpful.
Couple of questions….
I have successfully added our Facebook, LinkedIn and Google Company Pages to the website and it functions perfectly.
Via the iPad app I am only have been able to add our Facebook Page. LinkedIn only adds my personal profile. Google I have no idea where to enter my account.

Thanks so much for the question. We do have some limitations on which social networks are available on mobile devices at this time, such as LinkedIn and Google+ Pages, as well as WordPress. Well, that was a waste of time. As quickly as I began with HootSuite, I ended up leaving. My entire goal was to have a single location from which to manage all of my social-media profiles–but with no ability to access my Google+ profile, I fail to see the utility of HootSuite for my needs.
As an aside, it’s pretty misleading to imply that users have Google+ integration capability when they actually only have Google+ *Pages* access. Just be upfront about it, and perhaps save folks some time and frustration. I’m guessing the majority of the people posting in this thread were having the same issue–one that sending them to the Help Desk won’t fix.
I had to search out this forum to find out the issue is that HootSuite doesn’t have API access; why not just be forthcoming about it?

It wasn’t our intention to be misleading Brian, but I agree that the title of the post was not specific enough, given what you can and cannot do with Google+. I have adjusted it with the addition of the word “Pages,” to be more transparent about the content to follow.
We’ve done our best to be transparent in the comments as well, but the issue is, as you say, centered around one major feature request. Rather than point people who were confused about Pages/profiles terminology to the Help Desk, we should have pointed everyone here: http://feedback.hootsuite.com/forums/40825-hootsuite-for-iphone-and-ipad -That’s the feature request ticket in our forum where we all lament how anxious we are to see Profiles integrated. The more voices asking for this feature, the more likely it is to happen in a timely manner.
As you mentioned, the matter is one of access, and we hope that our partner grants that access, so we can adapt the product to suit.
Lastly, thank you for your candor. I do hope that you find some use of the other features, and we keep you on board, because we need your brand of hard truth as we aim to maintain the best-in-class social media management tool.
