On April 11th, Meta announced the launch of a new program designed to incentivize creator activity in Horizon Worlds, the company’s metaverse platform.
New monetization features include:
- Tools for creating and selling virtual effects (e.g. fashion accessories)
- A Horizon Worlds Creator Bonus that will allow creators to get paid out monthly for their progress toward specific goals (e.g. creating worlds that attract and retain large audiences)

The program is an add-on to the $10 million Horizon Creators Fund announced in October of 2021. Though currently only available to a small number of eligible creators in the U.S., Meta says it’s an important part of the company’s “long term vision for the metaverse where creators can earn a living and people can purchase goods, services, and experiences.”
