Instagram is currently testing a new feature that will allow users to pin posts to their profile, the company confirmed.
The pin posts will supposedly appear above a user’s photo grid. Users with access to the feature will see a “Pin to your profile” option within the three-dotted menu.
Facebook, Twitter and TikTok already allow users to pin posts, tweets or videos to the top of their pages, and it looks like Instagram is finally catching up.
The pin feature is typically used to highlight an important announcement or show off some of your best content. For creators or brands, a pinned post might be used to introduce yourself to new followers or page visitors.
Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, has repeatedly said in recent announcements that Instagram is working to become more creator-friendly. The new pin feature is part of amove to get creators, alongside other users, more control over how their platform appears to others.
Back in January, Alessandro Paluzzi, a mobile developer, leaked that Instagram was developing a customizable grid that would give users more control of their Instagram aesthetic. With this addition, which has yet to be officially launched, users would be able to rearrange posts as they please.
Like a pinned post, this would help users decide which posts get the most views.
As for the pinned post addition, Paluzzi says Instagram has also been working on this since January.
