Twitter appears to be working on a new creator monetization option called Tweet Awards, according to reverse engineering expert Jane Manchun Wong.
The new award feature shows up as a gift icon in the lower Tweet function bar.
Last year, Twitter started testing monetization options on the platform for creators, likely to keep up with other platforms rapidly developing new features so creators can earn more money on their sites. The platform has already introduced Super Follows, a way for creators to share subscriber-only content and collect monthly earnings. They also added a feature called Tips, which lets users add a third-party payment service to their profile so that fans can send direct payments.
Instagram already has a similar way for users to show their support for good content by purchasing Badges and TikTok offers live gifting to reward creators.
Twitter hasn’t made an official announcement on Tweet Awards, so details are still developing. However, it looks like Tweet Awards would be another way for users to financially support the creators they appreciate.
