More for Friends, Photos and Fans
Monitor Everything
Track content from Profiles, Pages and Groups from within HootSuite Facebook streams and customize your tabs with: news feeds, photos, videos, events, status updates, and wall posts. Become even more efficient by filtering Facebook Streams to view only selected users or posts.

Public Search
Over 20% of content on Facebook is public and now you can search it all in a HootSuite exclusive feature which is not available on Facebook.com. Track instances of your brand name, industry terms, executives etc. and then turn any comment into a stream to track conversations, even assign follow-ups, plus “Like” and comment directly in-stream.

Picture Posting
Images are a key part of any post and now your images are uploaded directly to Facebook (rather than linked) allowing you to add and schedule pictures to Profiles, Pages and Groups using the enhanced compose box functionality.

Geo-Campaigning
Enterprise customers can target messaging based on the language and location of their audience with new geo-targeting tools. Combined with scheduling, this feature will optimize campaign messaging so it reaches the most relevant audiences at the ideal times.

Other Like-able Additions

Facebook isn’t the only upgrade you’ll notice in the dashboard when you login. We’ve also included some polishes to existing features:
Compose box – Refreshed design makes adding photos, links and scheduling even more intuitive – plus add geo-location co-ordinates to Tweets on the go.
Profile Picker – Designed for users with dozens of profiles, use this auto-completing tool to set favorites and defaults for faster, more accurate selections. Note: you can choose to stay with the original-style if preferred.

Great new features, thanks. Really like the profile picker, although it would be good to move the favourites to the top of the list, have an option to filter by favourites by default or have the filter persistent once selected.
Great updates, posted a few of my own thoughts on my blog: http://ow.ly/6goLj

The first thing I noticed (besides Hootlet not working correctly) is that when you hit ‘Schedule’, the tweet immediately goes into the Pending stream. It used to be you could edit the tweet, and finalize scheduling.
My process is to schedule a blank tweet, then put in the text and links. This was to avoid hitting ‘Shift Enter’ accidentally, which would send it immediately. I’d like to have that safety of not sending tweets when you don’t want them sent.
Thanks! Looking forward to the rest of the upgrades.

This looks GREAT! However studies have concluded that auto-posting to Facebook Fan pages results in lower SEO scores and visibility on FB itself. How does using my Hootesuite to auto-post change that equation?
Thanks for any input,

MaggieB Reply:

Oh my, I didn’t keep track of where I was reading them, but they were by noted Internet marketers that noted that if they used a service to auto-post to Facebook that those posts were not garnering as many views as ones that they posted manually.
I am not posting to FB with HootSuite because it does not allow me to include pics… and I think that makes a huge difference in whether my fans read a post or not.

Comparing what I see to the video preview on the page above… when I click to add a photo, instead of seeing the two new big buttons, I get the message about twitter accounts.
Is this a bug, or is this feature only available on the pro account?
Thanks for your help.

To follow up my question, after a bit of investigation, this does work if I also post to a twitter account at the same time. It’s not ideal, but it’s enough to get around the problem for now.

Hey – great job HootSuite team!
Two additions from my side:
- please add the ability to upload pictures not just as “Wall Posts” but also to “Albums”
- very important and a real show stopper for our business: pre- scheduled images are visible upfront the scheduled publishing date due to the fact their being uploaded to ow.ly
Please really change the second part as it ruins the entire idea of scheduling pictures.
Internet users are way too smart and if they pick up some interesting content prior to it’s official publishing it would be devastating for us.
Many greetings and keep up the good work!
Robert

I’m an Associate Professor at Turabo University in Puerto Rico (USA) for the School of Business and Entrepreneurship. Currently my colleague Dr. Abraham Otero (San Pablo University, Spain) and I are writing a chapter for IGI Global (www.igi-global.com) that is title: “A Review of Tools for Overcoming the Challenge of Monitoring of Social Media” to be publish in the “Handbook of Research on Enterprise 2.0: Technological, Social, and Organizational Dimensions”.
In this chapter we are evaluating various monitoring and engagement tools, and HootSuite is one of those exceptional tools that is going to be mentioned and evaluated in the chapter. What we really need is more detail information and a hands-on experience on your tool. We will appreciate any help that your company may provide us; but I have to mention that we are running against the clock due to the fact that there is a submission date for the chapter.
We hope your company can help us out in our quest to enlighten the Enterprise 2.0.
